Senior Analyst, within the Investment Appraisal Team, Economics and Analysis Branch of Investment NSW - Help drive smarter government investments!

About the Role

In this role you will analyse the economic and financial costs and benefits of projects and programs and develop business cases to help the government make better informed investment decisions. You'll translate complex economic ideas into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders

You will join our Investment Appraisal team within the Economics and Analysis branch in the Investment NSW group.

The team provides services for initiatives across the NSW Government including policies, projects, and programs. Its analyses have guided key government investments, underpinned transformative policy decisions and delivered lasting public value across NSW.

The team also provides advice relating to cost benefit analysis and business cases, drives thought leadership by producing influential technical papers and develops practical tools and templates.

We're Looking For

  • Expertise in economic and financial analysis, including robust cost-benefit assessments analysis and business case development.
  • Proficiency in MS Microsoft Excel and ability to build detailed economic models that analyse complex data, then craft clear, concise written reports to communicate insights that drive smarter informed government investments and policy decisions.
  • Experience supporting key aspects of project management, such as scoping proposals, tracking progress against milestones, and assessing project risks, while providing clear project updates and insights to senior team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and diverse stakeholders to ensure clear communication and smooth project execution
  • Fostering curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning by leading research projects that refine analytical methodologies, drive innovation, and elevate the quality of economic analysis and services.
