Our Branch - City Planning and Economic Development

We deliver strategic projects to help create and transform a more liveable and economically viable Brisbane. With a focus on future strategic planning, our people help shape Brisbane through suburban design projects, infrastructure and economic growth.

The Role  

In this role you will support and drive positive economic development outcomes for Council and the City of Brisbane by contributing to the formation, implementation, and monitoring of key economic and socio-economic issues and opportunities.

This is a great opportunity to apply your skills and experience in economic and / or demographic analysis to draw  insights. As an experienced Economic Analyst, you will monitor trends and maintain statistical databases in economic activity focusing on investment, employment, population, demographic or other indicators.

We are looking for a self-starter and highly motivated individual to join a supportive, progressive, and close-knit team of highly experienced professionals.  You will be able to demonstrate your abilities and apply your experience to inform decision making. If you are keen to broaden your career and help inform decision making, then this could be the opportunity you have been looking for. 

To be successful you will have:

  • Proven knowledge and technical skills in interpreting economic and demographic measures that are relevant to understanding  urban economies
  • career experience in researching, sourcing, manipulating and analysing statistical data
  • career experience monitoring and reporting on trends of economic activity
  • strong skills in report writing and content development applying information to communicate economic development issues and priorities
  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

You will be highly regarded if you hold a tertiary qualification in economics, geography, business, commerce, or other discipline relevant. Experience in utilising software packages such as PowerBI, ArcGIS, ABS Tablebuilder would be highly advantageous.
