NSW WEN recently announced the inaugural writing competition as part of the Credible Economist series. Selected articles that best fit the evaluation criteria will receive prizes of up to $750. Submissions close on 1 April 2022.
To assist applicants in preparing submissions, NSW WEN will be holding a Q&A and workshop event.

The WA Government released it’s 2021-22 Budget on 9 September 2021. Western Australia is in an enviable positon, with one of the strongest economies in the nation and a record budget surplus of $5.7 billion amidst a global pandemic. However, the strength of our economy does not mean that all sectors are faring equally well, or that we are immune to future shocks and structural changes in the global economy.

Reconciliation Australia's theme for 2021, "More than a word", highlights the need to convert awareness into action:"For reconciliation to be effective, it must involve truth-telling, and actively address issues of inequality, systemic racism and instances where the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are ignored, denied or reduced."
