WEN: Coffee Meet-up (Victoria Branch)

The Women in Economics Network in Victoria is excited to extend a warm invitation to our final coffee meet-up for 2025. This is a chance for members to catch up informally over a cup of coffee and meet fellow friends and economists, including our November guest economist, Monique Champion.

Monique Champion leads the Microdata Analysis Unit in the Office of the Chief Economist at the Commonwealth Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. Prior to this she worked at the Commonwealth Treasury, contributing to a wide range of macroeconomic policy issues across the Macroeconomic Conditions and Population Division and the Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy Division. Her research has covered topics such as labour market dynamics, competition and inflation dynamics, housing markets, fiscal and monetary policy strategies, historical debt dynamics, and fiscal multipliers. During her time at Treasury, Monique was also a member of the Review of the Reserve Bank of Australia Secretariat. She began her career at Deloitte Access Economics in the Macroeconomic Policy and Forecasting team. Monique holds a Master of Economics from the University of Melbourne, and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Corporate Finance from the University of Adelaide. She is passionate about creating inclusive and diverse workplaces and has been an active member of the Women in Economics Network. At Treasury, she helped establish the Women’s Forum, which also included researching recruitment and retention challenges within the Department.
