The Economic Society of Australia - Victoria Branch cordially invites you to our 

2025 AGM AND ESA VIC AND WEN END OF YEAR EVENT

Join us for a night of networking and discussion at our end of year celebration for all economists.  We will hear from our guest speakers, Luci Ellis and Janine Dixon for a panel discussion on The Outlook for Productivity, Incomes and Wellbeing in Australia.

Registration is free for all members, and non-members are welcome to attend for $10.


About The Speaker

Luci Ellis

Luci Ellis is Westpac’s Chief Economist, responsible for their economic research and serving as the key economic spokesperson. Before joining Westpac, she was Assistant Governor (Economic) at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) from 2016 to 2023 and previously led the RBA’s Financial Stability Department for eight years. Luci also spent two years on secondment at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel and held various senior roles over her three-decade career in central banking. Since 2015, she has been a member of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council, advising the Minister and the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Luci holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales, a Master’s in Economics from the Australian National University, and a first-class Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

 

Janine Dixon

Professor Janine Dixon is Director of the Centre of Policy Studies (CoPS) at Victoria University, specialising in economy-wide modelling and labour market forecasting. Since 2013, she has led the university’s Employment Forecasting project, producing economic forecasts used by government agencies nationwide. A seasoned CGE modelling educator, she has taught extensively and supervised PhD students. Prior to CoPS, she managed service industry surveys at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. She holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and a First Class Honours degree in Economics from Monash University.
