The Queensland branch of the Women in Economics Network invites you to a free webinar about the business of show business: Lights, Camera, Pandemic? The Australian film industry featuring COVID-19.

Despite border closures and lockdowns, the Australian film industry has been an unexpected success story of the pandemic as production ground to a halt in countries across the globe. But how do you produce a film during a pandemic? What are the economic and social impacts of film production on local communities and the broader Australian economy? What challenges and opportunities are on the horizon for film production in Australia?

Kylie Pascoe (Producer, Red Thread Studios), Kylie Munnich (Chief Executive Officer, Screen Queensland) and Elizabeth Alvaro (Associate Director, Deloitte Access Economics) share their insights into the Australian film industry.

The discussion will be moderated by WEN Queensland Chair, Professor Louisa Coglan.
