The WA Government released it’s 2021-22 Budget on 9 September 2021. Western Australia is in an enviable positon, with one of the strongest economies in the nation and a record budget surplus of $5.7 billion amidst a global pandemic. However, the strength of our economy does not mean that all sectors are faring equally well, or that we are immune to future shocks and structural changes in the global economy.
We welcome a panel of prominent WA economists to discuss their thoughts on the Budget and the Government’s efforts to future-proof the WA economy. Panellists include:
Cassandra Winzar – Senior Economist, Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA)
Maria Guzman - PhD scholar at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre and the Women in Social Economic Research Cluster
Matt Judkins– Partner, Deloitte Access Economics.
Aaron Morey – Chief Economist, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA)
The panel will be facilitated by Jennifer Kirk,Director of Priority Sector Reform at the WA Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
