Elif Incekara-Hafalir is an Associate Professor of Economics at UTS Business School and Deputy Director of the UTS Behavioural Lab. A behavioural and experimental economist, she studies how beliefs about what other people think shape economic decisions — particularly women's employment. Her work shows that misperceived social norms can keep women out of the labour market, and that correcting those misperceptions changes behaviour. A second strand examines patience, perseverance and self-control, and what they mean for financial wellbeing and educational outcomes. Her research appears in Management Science and Experimental Economics, has been funded by Harvard's Evidence for Policy Design.
