Dr Mehwish Ghulam Ali is an experienced economist who specialises in providing evidence-based policy advice on current and emerging economic issues.
She holds a PhD in Economics from RMIT University, Melbourne, where her research examined the intersection of gender and wellbeing. As a recipient of the prestigious United Nations Visiting PhD Fellowship, she contributed to global efforts on gender equality, health and education.
Her work focuses on advancing intersectional approaches that recognise how race and gender shape access to opportunity. Deeply engaged with multicultural communities, she founded a peer-led group supporting migrant women to navigate the Australian labour market.
Dr Ali has presented her research at national and international forums, including contributions to work aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She currently provides strategic policy advice on skills and employment, gender, data, technology and the clean economy in Australia.
