Dr Sunny Kim Nguyen
Head of Australia Economics, Moody’s Analytics
Sunny is an experienced macroeconomist who translates economic and policy shifts into clear, decision-useful narratives for markets, policymakers and business leaders. As Head of Australia Economics at Moody’s Analytics, she leads the Australia forecast, oversees APAC quality control, and advises clients ranging from central banks to multinational firms. Her work sits at the intersection of forecasting, policy analysis and strategic communication.
She has worked across academia, central banking (the Reserve Bank of Australia) and the private sector, giving her a rare, end-to-end perspective on how economics travels from models to markets to real-world decisions. Her research spans inflation, labour markets, monetary policy transmission, and household and business finance, with a particular interest in using high-frequency data to sharpen macroeconomic insight.
Sunny also lectures in economics and finance at the University of Sydney. She combines analytical rigour with practical market context, helping students understand not only the theory, but how economics informs professional judgment in the real world.
